Senior Network Operations Engineer

Johnson Controls is seeking a dedicated Senior Network Operations Engineer to join our Technical Operations Centre in Pune, Maharashtra, India. This global role focuses on ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of our extensive network infrastructure.

About the Role:

As a Senior Network Operations Engineer, you will be instrumental in overseeing the daily operations of Network Operations Engineers during your shift. Your primary responsibilities will include ensuring prompt incident management, effective troubleshooting, and timely resolution of network issues, all while adhering to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and targets. You will maintain critical communication channels with internal teams, stakeholders, and the Global Network Services Operations management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and coach Network Operations Engineers to foster high performance and productivity.
• Incident Management: Oversee the entire incident lifecycle, from identification and resolution to escalation, for network services.
• Monitoring & Reporting: Continuously monitor the company’s global network infrastructure using a suite of advanced monitoring tools.
• Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for escalations during your shift, ensuring clear and timely communication with management and affected teams.
• Documentation: Maintain and update essential documents including incident reports, shift handovers, and troubleshooting guides to facilitate knowledge transfer.
• Collaboration: Work closely with other shifts, teams, and departments to resolve complex issues, schedule maintenance, and support continuous service improvement initiatives.
• Compliance & Security: Ensure all operational activities strictly adhere to the company’s compliance, security, and safety standards.
• Performance Monitoring: Track and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), identifying areas for improvement and developing actionable plans.
• Crisis Management: Lead the team effectively through high-pressure situations, such as major incidents, ensuring swift resolution and robust communication.
• Shift Handover: Conduct comprehensive handovers with other shift leaders to guarantee service continuity and accurate issue tracking.

Qualifications and Skills:

Required:

• Education/Experience: A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered. A minimum of 5 years of experience in network operations within a global enterprise with a complex infrastructure is essential. Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a Network Operations Center (NOC) or similar environment is required.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in Cisco Routing/Switching configuration and diagnostics.
• Expertise in Firewall configuration and diagnostics, including Cisco ASA, Fortinet, and Palo Alto.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco LAN, WAN, and WLAN technologies, VPNs, load balancers, firewalls, DNS, DHCP, and SNMP.
• Solid understanding of network features and protocols such as TCP/IP and BGP.
• Familiarity with network monitoring tools like Solarwinds.

Certifications:

• CCNA, ITIL, or similar certifications are highly desirable.

Soft Skills:

• Exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of managing diverse teams and handling escalations effectively.
• Ability to perform under pressure in high-stress environments.
