Senior Machine Learning Engineer - Bengaluru, India

PayPal is seeking a highly skilled Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join our dynamic team in Bengaluru, India. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing and optimizing cutting-edge machine learning models across various applications. You will be responsible for preprocessing and analyzing large datasets to derive actionable insights, and for deploying robust ML solutions into production environments utilizing industry-standard tools and frameworks. Collaboration with cross-functional teams will be key to integrating these advanced ML models into our innovative products and services. Continuous monitoring and evaluation of deployed model performance are also crucial aspects of this position.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience.
• A bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
• Familiarity with major cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and GCP, along with tools for data processing and model deployment.
• Several years of hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and deploying machine learning models, as well as scaling ML systems.
• An MSc or equivalent experience in a quantitative field like Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or Artificial Intelligence, or a bachelor's degree in engineering, science, statistics, or mathematics with a strong technical foundation in machine learning.
• Proficiency in Python or Java, and associated technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, Big-Query, and SQL.
• A comprehensive understanding of machine learning algorithms and explainable AI (XAI) techniques.
• Expertise in at least one of the following specialized areas: Computer Vision, Graph Mining, Natural Language Processing (NLP), or Generative AI (GenAI).
• Experience with developing machine learning models at scale from conception through to business impact.
• Experience in designing comprehensive ML pipelines, covering model versioning, deployment, testing, and monitoring.
• Experience in mentoring and supporting junior data scientists or engineers.
• Experience with applying Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt design, and fine-tuning methodologies.
• Experience developing Gen AI applications/services for complex business use cases and handling large volumes of unstructured data.
• Knowledge of the Payments industry and transaction risk domains is a plus.
• Publications in prominent AI journals or conferences, or successful AI/ML-related patent applications, are highly valued.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with cloud frameworks such as GCP and AWS.
• Experience working in a multi-cultural and multi-location organization is an advantage.
