Target is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager in Bengaluru, Karnataka, to lead a dynamic team of full-stack engineers in developing innovative, scalable, and high-impact technology solutions. This pivotal role requires a blend of technical leadership, product ownership, and people management, overseeing the complete software lifecycle from inception through production support. The Senior Engineering Manager will be instrumental in driving key product outcomes, including business KPIs, Net Promoter Score (NPS), and user satisfaction, while actively shaping the product roadmap and delivering intelligent, high-quality software. As the primary technical and strategic voice for the team, collaboration across various functions will be essential to influence decisions and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture and business objectives. Success hinges on strong problem-solving acumen, deep technical expertise, exceptional communication skills, and a proactive, ownership-driven approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and foster the career development of a high-performing full-stack engineering team.
- Manage the end-to-end product development lifecycle, encompassing architecture, coding, deployment, and production support.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to own and influence the product roadmap, prioritization, and delivery timelines.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and secure software solutions that adhere to Target's enterprise architecture standards.
- Maintain a hands-on engineering presence by actively contributing to code development and technical design.
- Develop and implement infrastructure strategies, including cloud adoption and the effective utilization of enterprise platforms.
- Proactively identify and resolve technical challenges across code, infrastructure, build processes, and deployment pipelines.
- Champion Agile and DevOps principles, including Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) and the delivery of incremental value.
- Engage in cross-functional collaboration and represent the team in enterprise-level planning and strategic initiatives.
- Establish robust stakeholder communication channels and effectively influence product and technology decisions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- A minimum of 7 years of software engineering experience.
- 1-3 years of experience in engineering management, with a proven history of successfully delivering cross-functional products.
- Proficiency in at least two general-purpose programming languages.
- Required experience with microservices, event-driven architectures, system integration, and large-scale production systems.
- A solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and problem-solving.
- Required experience with at least one public cloud platform.
- Preferred experience in data engineering or big data ecosystems.
- Preferred exposure to the retail or supply chain domains.
- Ability to function effectively as both an engineering leader and a product strategist.
- Preferred familiarity with product development methodologies, roadmap planning, OKRs, and stakeholder management.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- A passion for team development and building inclusive, high-performing engineering cultures.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex technology initiatives within large enterprise environments.
- A deep understanding of Agile methodologies, CI/CD, and iterative delivery models.
