Sr Engineer II

HashiCorp is seeking Senior Engineers with a strong backend focus to join their team in Bengaluru, India. You will be instrumental in developing the Infrastructure Cloud, contributing to a unified platform for infrastructure and security lifecycle management. Responsibilities include designing, prototyping, and implementing features while ensuring stability and usability. You will collaborate closely with Product Design and Product Management, acting as a subject matter expert, particularly in Golang development. This role involves leading large-scale projects from design through implementation and troubleshooting, driving the end-to-end project lifecycle with a focus on quality and efficiency. You will evaluate project tradeoffs, proactively remove blockers, and keep stakeholders informed. Collaboration with internal teams, customers, and external stakeholders to design solutions aligning with requirements is key. You will advocate for strategic technical roadmap initiatives, debug and resolve complex issues, and conduct code reviews to ensure best practices. Mentoring junior engineers, facilitating collaborative team activities, and supporting production environments, including participating in an on-call rotation, are also expected. A commitment to quality through maintainable code and comprehensive testing is essential.

Basic qualifications include at least 8+ years of engineering experience, professional experience with modern programming languages (Golang and Ruby specifically), and experience with distributed systems on cloud providers like AWS, Azure, or GCP, focusing on scalability, resilience, and security. You should possess emerging ability to direct work, influence others, and demonstrate strategic problem-solving skills in a collaborative environment. Business acumen, customer focus, adaptability, a cloud-native mindset, solid understanding of DevOps principles, familiarity with cloud monitoring tools for observability, strong stakeholder management, and effective communication are also required. Critical thinking and data-driven analysis are encouraged to support high-quality outcomes.

Preferred qualifications include experience using HashiCorp products (Terraform, Packer, Waypoint, Nomad, Vault, Boundary, Consul) and prior experience working in cloud platform engineering teams.
