Full Job Description
Qualcomm India Private Limited is seeking a Sr. Systems Engineer specializing in Audio Systems. This role is at the forefront of on-device AI and multimedia technology, focusing on the design and implementation of cutting-edge audio and speech signal processing solutions. You will leverage both traditional signal processing and advanced machine learning (ML) techniques to architect and optimize Voice AI algorithms for deployment on next-generation Snapdragon platforms. This position offers the opportunity to impact diverse markets, including mobile, XR, compute, IoT, and automotive.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop comprehensive software audio systems, encompassing reference designs and intellectual property (IP).
- Focus on key areas such as echo cancellation, noise suppression, and speech enhancement algorithms.
- Create, prototype, and commercialize innovative audio solutions using both signal processing and ML methodologies.
- Analyze and validate the performance of audio subsystems, ensuring adherence to strict metrics for robustness, power efficiency, and stability on Qualcomm platforms.
- Implement, test, and troubleshoot both fixed-point and floating-point algorithms, including ML-based audio features.
- Develop, optimize, and deploy audio ML models for various audio applications, with an emphasis on inference efficiency across NPUs, GPUs, and CPUs.
- Conduct model evaluation, quantization, and compression to enable fast and robust inference on embedded hardware.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional R&D, systems, and integration teams to verify system use cases and provide commercialization support.
- Perform algorithm performance validations and benchmarking analysis using open-source models, and lead demo prototyping efforts.
- Work closely with internal engineering teams and customers to ensure successful commercialization of audio technologies.
- Foster diversity and inclusion within Qualcomm and demonstrate adaptability in a dynamic, multi-tasking team environment.
Requirements
- Solid foundation in audio signal processing fundamentals.
- Proven experience in developing, implementing, and debugging audio algorithms using both signal processing and ML approaches.
- Knowledge of Audio features, Echo Cancellation, Noise Suppression, and Speech Enhancement algorithms.
- Strong programming proficiency in Embedded C/C++, Matlab, and Python.
- Experience with embedded platforms, DSP architectures, real-time operating systems, and software design patterns.
- Familiarity with various model architectures, including CNNs, RNNs, U-Nets, and Transformers, for audio applications.
- Expertise in both fixed-point and floating-point algorithm implementation.
- Demonstrated ability in audio system design, acoustic measurements, and performance analysis.
- Familiarity with DSP intrinsic and assembly programming is advantageous.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and cross-functional teamwork skills.
- Ability to learn quickly, self-motivation, and capacity to work independently across geographically dispersed teams.
Educational Qualifications
- Master's or PhD degree in Engineering, Electronics and Communication, Electrical, Computer Science, or a related field.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field and 2+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
- OR Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field and 1+ year of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
- OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
