Sr Engineer: Audio Systems Engineer

Join Qualcomm's Audio Systems Group in Hyderabad/Secunderabad, Telangana, India, and play a pivotal role in developing and implementing cutting-edge audio and speech signal processing solutions. You will be involved in the complete engineering lifecycle, from algorithm design and prototyping to performance optimization, bringing innovative audio technologies to life on next-generation Snapdragon platforms. These platforms serve a wide range of applications including mobile, XR (Extended Reality), compute, IoT (Internet of Things), and automotive.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement advanced audio DSP algorithms for diverse audio applications.
• Prototype, test, and optimize audio solutions leveraging both traditional signal processing and machine learning techniques.
• Analyze, evaluate, and validate audio subsystem performance to ensure robustness, power efficiency, and stability across Qualcomm platforms.
• Develop, test, and debug fixed-point and floating-point algorithms, including ML-based audio features.
• Collaborate with cross-functional R&D, systems, and integration teams to verify use cases and support commercialization efforts.
• Participate in acoustic performance testing and assist with demo prototyping.
• Document technical work thoroughly and communicate effectively with both local and global teams.

Requirements

• A strong foundation in audio signal processing principles.
• Understanding of audio codecs such as AAC and SBC.
• Proven experience in developing and debugging audio algorithms using signal processing and/or machine learning approaches.
• Proficiency in Embedded C/C++, Matlab, and Python programming.
• Familiarity with DSP intrinsic and assembly programming.
• Knowledge of embedded platforms, DSP architectures, and real-time operating systems.
• Understanding of both fixed-point and floating-point implementation considerations.
• Ability to contribute to audio system design, conduct acoustic measurements, and perform performance analysis.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.
• A motivated, adaptable, and effective approach to working within a dynamic team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with audio features, audio encoders, and decoders.
• Exposure to the Qualcomm Audio framework, SDKs, and development tools.

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Electronics, Communications, Electrical, Computer Science, or a closely related technical field.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, coupled with 2+ years of Systems Engineering or equivalent work experience.
• OR Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, coupled with 1+ year of Systems Engineering or equivalent work experience.
• OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
