Sr Database Engineer

This role is responsible for managing and improving PayPal's data infrastructure. The Senior Database Engineer will collaborate with internal teams to refine database processes, supervise team performance, and implement best practices in database design and management. This individual will independently address complex issues, ensuring data integrity and security, and contributing to data-driven decision-making and application functionality.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Manage and optimize Big Data and cloud technologies for reliable and efficient operations.
• Design, implement, and oversee scalable compute infrastructure to support data scientists.
• Create insightful reports using tools such as Tableau, MicroStrategy, ThoughtSpot, Qlik, and Looker.
• Optimize system performance through tuning and proactive efficiency improvements.
• Collaborate with business users to address queries, resolve issues, and provide technical guidance.
• Lead data migration, system upgrades, and maintenance of databases and associated tools.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts for platform administration and monitoring.
• Deliver database engineering, infrastructure builds, and release management services with a focus on quality and reliability.
• Partner with cross-functional operations teams for incident management, root cause analysis, and problem resolution.
• Take ownership of implementing modules, applications, or products from concept to deployment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
