Sr Data Engineer

PayPal is seeking a highly motivated Senior Data Engineer in Chennai, India, to join our dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to impact our customers by leveraging your expertise in data to craft customized products and transform massive datasets into actionable insights. You will be instrumental in driving intelligent alerting and anomaly detection to proactively highlight emerging trends and risks. Furthermore, you will partner with the business to empower user groups with self-service Business Intelligence (BI) capabilities, fostering data-driven decision-making enhanced with AI-driven insights.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and development of complex data pipelines for data collection and processing.
• Develop and maintain advanced data storage solutions.
• Ensure data quality and consistency through sophisticated validation and cleansing processes.
• Implement advanced data transformation techniques to prepare data for analysis.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and provide innovative solutions.
• Optimize data engineering processes for performance, scalability, and reliability.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a quantitative field such as Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline. A Master's degree is a plus.
• Over 5 years of experience leading BI initiatives, delivering end-to-end data solutions, analyzing large datasets, and transforming them into actionable insights.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience managing data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) from multiple sources using advanced SQL and Jupyter Notebooks.
