Senior Architect - Java Spring Boot Microservices

Cognizant is seeking a seasoned Senior Architect specializing in Java Spring Boot microservices to join our team in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. This role is crucial for designing, developing, and delivering robust and scalable microservices architectures that power our innovative solutions. You will leverage your deep technical expertise and leadership capabilities to guide development teams, collaborate with stakeholders, and ensure the successful implementation of high-quality, maintainable, and performant microservices.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural design and development of Java-based microservices using Spring Boot.
• Architect scalable and maintainable codebases using modern design patterns and best practices.
• Establish and maintain reusable code libraries and shared frameworks for microservices development.
• Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews and technical discussions.
• Collaborate with product owners, designers, and backend engineers to align technical solutions with business goals and user needs.
• Integrate with various internal and external services, including RESTful APIs and potentially GraphQL.
• Ensure high standards of code quality, performance, security, and reliability for all microservices.
• Drive continuous integration, testing, and deployment best practices within an agile environment.
• Evaluate and adopt new tools and technologies to optimize microservices development workflows.
• Participate in sprint planning, estimations, and retrospectives.
• Produce reports on developer productivity and execution for leadership.
• Define and implement strategic roadmaps for microservices initiatives aligned with business objectives.
• Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
• Manage cross-functional collaboration across engineering, QA, and product teams.
• Lead stakeholder communications and ensure timely delivery of microservices milestones.
• Implement governance and compliance standards for microservices development.
• Drive hiring, onboarding, and training of microservices engineering talent.
• Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing initiatives.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in Java development with a strong focus on Spring Boot for building microservices.
• Proven experience in architecting, designing, and implementing complex microservices architectures.
• Deep understanding of microservices design patterns, such as API Gateway, Service Discovery, Circuit Breaker, and Event-Driven Architecture.
• Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and backend services architectures.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools and practices for microservices deployment.
• Solid understanding of microservices performance optimization and scalability best practices.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in a software development team, preferably focused on microservices.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Experience with RESTful API design and development.
• Knowledge of security and privacy best practices for distributed systems.
• Strong documentation skills and experience contributing to internal or open-source projects.
