Sr. Android Engineer

Navan is looking for a Senior Android Engineer to design, build, and enhance our mobile applications in the business expense management space.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and ship high-quality Android features in a large production app used internationally.
• Contribute to Android infrastructure so delivery stays fast and reliable across multiple platforms.
• Review code, provide constructive feedback to peers, and write technical documentation to improve coding practices and overall code quality within the team.
• Triage product and application issues effectively, responding quickly to customer problems in a global support environment.

Mandatory Qualifications:

• 5+ years of professional experience developing high-quality Android applications for diverse user bases.
• Strong understanding of the full app development lifecycle, from conception to deployment and maintenance.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Kotlin and building modern declarative UIs with Jetpack Compose.
• Solid command over the Android SDK:
• Mastery of core App components (Activities, Services, BroadcastReceivers, ContentProviders) and their integration patterns.
• Deep knowledge of how applications integrate into the Android OS lifecycle: handling notifications, deep linking, battery optimization modes, network state management, data persistence strategies, and permission systems.
• Proven track record in performance tuning, memory profiling, and general application optimization for diverse hardware configurations.
• Familiarity with Gradle build systems, modularization strategies, and dependency management.

Required Technical Skills:

• Solid understanding of concurrency practices and extensive experience working with Kotlin Coroutines for asynchronous operations.
• The ability to make sound architectural judgment calls based on real-world data, requirements, and scalability needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and seamless publishing to the Google Play Store.
• Solid foundation in data structures and algorithms, specifically focused on delivering testable, scalable, and maintainable codebases.
