Full Job Description
Optum seeks a skilled Machine Learning Engineer with extensive experience in Generative AI (GenAI) and agentic frameworks, complemented by strong foundational knowledge in ML/NLP. This role focuses on developing and deploying production-grade AI systems across critical verticals such as Health, Rx, and Productization. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deploy GenAI and agentic AI solutions in production environments.
- Design robust ML systems for structured and unstructured data, including complex database interactions.
- Create scalable, Python-based ML pipelines and APIs.
- Work on core ML use cases like prediction, optimization, and recommendation systems.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and platform teams to operationalize models effectively.
- Lead model productionization efforts, encompassing API design, integration, load testing, high-performance computing, and latency management.
- Adhere to all employment terms, company policies, and directives, including those related to work location, team changes, work shifts, benefits flexibility, and adaptations to business environment changes.
Qualifications:
- Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related discipline.
- Solid understanding of machine learning, deep learning, and statistical modeling principles.
- Proven hands-on experience with NLP, Large Language Models (LLMs), transformers, and generative AI techniques.
- Demonstrated experience in building and orchestrating AI agents or multi-agent systems.
- Experience handling large-scale datasets and distributed computing environments (e.g., Spark/PySpark).
- Proficiency in Python and popular ML frameworks/libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and scikit-learn.
- Knowledge of model optimization techniques, including FLOPs reduction, quantization, and latency tuning.
- Familiarity with MLOps practices, model deployment, and production monitoring.
- Understanding of APIs, microservices architecture, and system integration principles.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.
