Software Engineer – Python

Scope

• Contribute to the development, testing, and maintenance of Blue Yonder's cloud-native Supply Chain Data Platform.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to build scalable microservices, implement new features, resolve defects, and enhance product quality while gaining expertise in distributed systems and cloud technologies.

Tech Stack

• Core: Python, NumPy, Gradle, GIT, Hibernate, REST API, OAuth
• Architecture: Scalable, Resilient, Event-Driven Microservices with Solver integration
• Cloud (Azure): ARM Templates, AKS, HD Insight, Application Gateway, VNet, Event Hub, Azure AD
• Data & Tools: Snowflake, MS SQL, GitHub Actions

Key Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality software adhering to clean code principles and Blue Yonder standards.
• Prioritize issues in the backlog autonomously and support team members as needed.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies: backlog grooming, planning, stand-ups, retrospectives.
• Translate business requirements into user stories and actively engage with stakeholders for feedback.
• Determine subtasks from designs provided by lead developers and architects.
• Incorporate information security best practices during coding and code reviews.
• Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies.
• Triage, troubleshoot, and resolve issues across environments to ensure reliable services.
• Collaborate with operating teams to shift left known issues until fixes are deployed.
• Create actionable user stories to alleviate operational pain points.
• Manage stakeholder expectations during complex changes and plan accordingly.
• Analyze incidents root causes and drive blameless improvements.
• Promote self-service automation over manual service requests.
• Optimize service usage with stakeholders to minimize costs for derived products.

Secondary Duties

• Become a subject matter expert in specific product areas.
• Evaluate functional and technical requirements of software components.
• Provide constructive feedback during code reviews.
• Mentor junior engineers and assist with onboarding new team members.
• Participate in hiring activities to build the right talent pipeline.
• Identify refactoring opportunities for the backlog.
• Evolves CI/CD pipelines and resolves broken builds.
• Conduct benchmark analyses, identify performance hot spots, and implement improvements.
• Create prototypes and proofs of concept (POCs) for innovative features.
• Align team vision with company strategy.
• Maintain deep understanding of the problem domain.
• Communicate the impact of changes on other teams and customers clearly.
