About the Role
Canonical is hiring a Software Engineer at graduate level to develop, test, and release improvements for Ubuntu on public clouds. This role focuses on quality-oriented software engineering in Python with an emphasis on interoperability across various releases.
- Create and manage high-quality Ubuntu cloud images using apt configuration and Debian packaging best practices.
- Collaborate proactively within a distributed global team to build tools used by millions.
- Write clean code, implement unit/functional tests, debug issues, and conduct peer reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, STEM, or equivalent experience.
- Extensive Python development experience on Linux systems.
- Prior contributions to open source projects are advantageous.
- Interest and/or experience with Ubuntu administration, CI/CD, Debian packaging, and cloud environments (public/on-premise).
