Software Engineer

About the Role

Ottimate's mission is to make accounts payables and payments effortless for businesses. We are looking for a Backend Engineer (Python/Django) to contribute to our new product efforts and help take ideas to market. Our tech stack includes Django, Angular, Postgres, and AWS.

Responsibilities

• Discuss, plan, build, and test new features as part of a collaborative team including engineers, designers, and product managers.
• Leverage experience from previous roles to help build exciting fintech innovations for businesses globally.
• Triage and fix bugs, often working directly with users to improve their experience.
• Manage code reviews via Pull Requests while maintaining high Unit Test coverage and quality standards.
• Help migrate modules into independent micro-services as the platform scales.
• Work on product features that impact tens of thousands of customers.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience working on web applications using modern software engineering processes.
• Proficiency in Python and Django (expertise required).
• Ability to debug complex database performance issues.
• Critical thinking skills to improve the product both technically and from a user needs perspective.
• Demonstrated ability to build performant, scalable backends with pragmatic tradeoffs.
• Strong communication skills capable of explaining complex technical topics clearly.

Nice-to-haves

• Fintech or Accounting experience.
• Experience integrating ERP/Accounting Systems.
• Exposure to Purchase Orders processes.
• AWS DevOps knowledge.
• Product sense and intuition.
