About the Role
As a Principal Software Engineer on the Aviato team at Blackbaud, you will stay hands-on with production code while setting technical direction within our Platform team. You'll drive automation and CI/CD across our .NET/C# and Azure-based services in a DevSecOps culture, partnering with leadership to translate business strategy into technical execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Write, review, and ship production-quality code as a core part of your role.
- Build automation leveraging CI/CD processes, automated testing, unit testing, and best practices for observability.
- Define the technical architecture and roadmap for Aviato's platform, balancing scalability, reliability, and delivery speed.
- Create reusable automation scripts (preferably PowerShell), libraries, services, and tools to boost efficiency.
- Collaborate with security teams to address vulnerabilities and identify systemic risks before they become incidents.
- Mentor senior engineers and raise the technical bar across the Aviato team.
Requirements
We are looking for candidates with 10+ years of experience in web technologies like JavaScript, C#, .NET, HTML, or other object-oriented languages. You must have deep expertise in .NET/C# and hands-on experience architecting production systems on Microsoft Azure (SaaS/PaaS/IaaS). Experience building high-performance, scalable, 24x7 environments is essential.
Nice to Have
- Front-end experience with Angular or React.
- Familiarity with observability tools like Spunk or Honeycomb and containerized application environments.
