Software Engineer

Join Teradata's OS Engineering team as a Software Engineer in Hyderabad, Telangana, India, contributing to the development and testing of OS-level features for our public cloud and on-premises solutions. You will be instrumental in ensuring the timely delivery of features and collaborating with other engineering teams. Your responsibilities will include implementing software features at the OS level for both Teradata cloud and on-prem offerings. We seek a motivated, empathetic, and creative engineer comfortable in an agile environment. Experience with Linux OS, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), and ideally Linux Kernel and Teradata Vantage is preferred.

Our team focuses on delivering comprehensive, reliable, and scalable solutions for the Teradata SQL Engine across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, aligning with our Teradata Everywhere strategy. As part of Teradata Labs, our R&D organization, you'll work alongside analytic architects and database developers advancing cutting-edge analytic data solutions.

Must-Have Qualifications:

• Proficiency with the Linux Operating System.
• Experience in public and/or private cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Linux KVM, VMWare ESXi).
• Strong programming skills in bash, Python, and C.
• Experience with user-level debugging and Linux tools like gdb.
• Knowledge and experience with DevOps automation tools.
• Ability to support internal development teams with OS-related queries.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Educational requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field with 2+ years of experience, OR Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field with 1+ years of experience.

Good-to-Have Qualifications:

• Exposure to Go and Java.
• Knowledge of security standards such as CIS benchmarks, FedRAMP, FIPS, and STIG.
• Familiarity with DevOps automation tools and libraries.
• Experience with complex network topology setup.
• Some familiarity with the Linux Kernel.
• Experience with kernel-level debugging and analysis tools (crash, perf).
• Ability to debug core OS utilities (rpm, curl, openssl).
• Familiarity with container runtime concepts.
• Experience with Teradata Vantage.
• Ability to assist customer-facing teams with escalated Linux OS support cases.
• Familiarity with enterprise software update delivery.
• Understanding of security best practices.
• Experience with automation frameworks like Jenkins.
• Experience with Intel x86 and/or ARM processors.
• Experience in fast-paced agile scrum development environments.
