Software Engineer - Process Automation Digital Division

Join ABB, a global leader in electrification and automation, in our Process Automation business. We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to contribute to our innovative digital solutions based in Bangalore Southfield, India. This role reports to the Digital Solution Engineering Manager.

Your Role and Responsibilities:

In this dynamic role, you will be instrumental in developing and enhancing software components within our platform and application management. You will provide accurate project schedule estimates, ensure their timely completion, and demonstrate strong proficiency in software engineering. Your daily activities will involve:

• Defining and implementing scalable, high-performance software architectures using .NET (C#) and React.
• Providing technical direction and mentorship to development teams, fostering adherence to best coding and design practices.
• Architecting and optimizing microservices-based solutions, prioritizing modularity, performance, and maintainability.
• Driving innovation through the identification and implementation of AI-powered automation tools for software development and testing.
• Writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code, adhering to SOLID principles.
• Designing and developing applications that seamlessly integrate with industrial automation systems, including SCADA, MES, OPC UA, PLCs, and IoT platforms.
• Ensuring efficient real-time data processing and communication between IT and OT systems.
• Defining standards for system reliability, fault tolerance, and high availability in mission-critical industrial environments.
• Actively participating in Agile (Scrum/Kanban) sprints to ensure timely delivery of features.
• Facilitating frontend and backend integration via well-structured RESTful APIs and WebSockets.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 2 to 6 years of extensive experience in .NET and React, with a proven ability to lead the development of cutting-edge software solutions for the Process Automation Industry.

Technical Skills:

• Backend: .NET Core, C#, ASP.NET, Web APIs, Entity Framework
• Frontend: React (latest versions), TypeScript, RxJS, NgRx
• Database: SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or NoSQL databases
• Cloud & DevOps: Azure/AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD Pipelines
• Automation & Industrial Protocols: OPC UA, MQTT, SCADA, MES
• Testing & Security: Unit testing, security best practices, OWASP
• Proficiency in containerization using K8s / K3s / Docker.
• Experience working with virtual environments (VMware / Hyperview / Azure).
