Software Engineer

Google is seeking a Software Engineer to join the ML Compilers team in Bengaluru. You will build compilers and tools that map machine learning models efficiently to custom hardware ISAs like EdgeTPU for always-on edge AI use cases. About the Team: The Platforms and Devices team combines Google's best-in-class software, hardware (such as Tensor TPUs), and AI expertise to create seamless computing experiences across desktop, mobile, and first-party devices. You will work on critical projects with opportunities to grow within a fast-paced environment where leadership versatility is valued. Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with ML compilers or general compiler development.
• Demonstrated experience building system software.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Experience designing and optimizing data structures and algorithms for high-performance computing.
• Skillset in optimizing ML model inference on devices, including hardware-aware neural networks (HNN).
• Proven ability to perform power consumption optimizations alongside performance tuning.
• Strong understanding of parallel processing architectures and system-level optimization techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and build compilers that efficiently map ML models onto hardware instruction sets (ISAs) for always-on computing scenarios like smart speakers, security cameras, and automotive systems.
• Collaborate with fellow compiler engineers to propose and implement critical fixes addressing correctness, performance bottlenecks, and memory management issues.
• Triage root causes of bugs in ML model deployment pipelines on EdgeTPU hardware.
