Software Engineer

Software Engineer Position: Argonne National Laboratory is seeking a motivated recent graduate (Level 1) for its Business and Information Services division. In this role, you will design, develop, maintain, debug, and review software applications used to support our critical research missions. You will collaborate closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to deliver robust solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the architecture and development of scalable software applications.
• Write clean, efficient, maintainable code adhering to best practices.
• Participate actively in peer code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
• Troubleshoot and resolve basic software issues independently or with guidance.
• Collaborate with team members to analyze project requirements and deliver effective technical solutions.

Mandatory Requirements:

• Minimum of a completed Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or equivalent) and 0+ years of experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++.
• Familiarity with database concepts including SQL Server, Oracle, and standard SQL query writing.
• Understanding of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile/DevOps).
