Software Engineer

Hoichoi is actively seeking experienced backend engineers to join its dynamic tech team in Kolkata. This pivotal role is central to our revenue infrastructure, encompassing payment orchestration, subscription lifecycle management, and the development of high-scale backend systems. Rather than merely maintaining existing systems, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and scaling new solutions that directly impact millions of users and significant revenue streams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and scale robust backend services utilizing Node.js (MERN stack) and GoLang to support payments, subscriptions, and user entitlements.
• Seamlessly integrate and orchestrate various payment gateways, including but not limited to Stripe and Razorpay.
• Design and implement sophisticated webhook systems engineered to handle retries, prevent duplicates, and manage failures effectively.
• Optimize MongoDB queries and Redis caching strategies to ensure high performance for high-traffic flows.
• Architect systems designed for high concurrency, low latency, and substantial transaction scale, employing both Node.js and Go services.
• Implement comprehensive reconciliation processes, settlement tracking mechanisms, and advanced payment analytics.
• Take full ownership of production reliability, proactively identify and resolve issues, and drive fixes independently.

Required Skills and Experience:

• A minimum of 14 years of backend development experience, with substantial production experience in Node.js (MERN stack).
• Proven working experience with GoLang for developing backend services, APIs, or performance-critical systems.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript with a commitment to strict typing enforcement is highly preferred.
• Hands-on experience with integrating major payment gateways such as Stripe, Razorpay, or Juspay.
• Demonstrated experience in managing webhooks, asynchronous events, and designing idempotent payment flows.
• Proven expertise in MongoDB schema design and query optimization for large-scale applications.
• AI-native developer: you should be adept at using AI coding assistants like Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code, and possess the critical skill to review and refactor AI-generated code effectively.
• Excellent async communication skills, a proactive approach to ownership, a willingness to ask questions early, and the ability to pair-program when necessary.
