Software Engineer III

We are seeking a talented Software Engineer III to join our Accounts Payable team at Walmart Global Tech India in Chennai. This role is crucial for developing and maintaining systems that manage vendor payments and expense processing, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant financial operations.

What You Will Do

• Guide the team in architectural decisions and best practices for building scalable applications.
• Drive design, development, implementation, and documentation of cutting-edge solutions.
• Build, test, and deploy solutions at scale, impacting Walmart associates globally.
• Collaborate with Walmart engineering teams across geographies to share expertise and contribute to the tech community.
• Engage with Product Management and Business stakeholders to define and deliver impactful products.
• Drive the success of implementations by designing and building enhanced processes and technical solutions for strategic initiatives.
• Work closely with Architects and cross-functional teams to deliver solutions meeting Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) standards within architectural guidelines.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to define the future roadmap of products.
• Participate in hiring and team building to foster high-performing agile teams.
• Interact closely with Business owners and technical teams, both within India and globally, to gather requirements.

What You Will Bring

• Hands-on experience building Java-based backend systems and working with cloud-based solutions is essential. Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, and Spark is required.
• Prior experience delivering highly scalable, large-scale data processing Java applications.
• Strong understanding of high and low-level system design, with experience designing data-intensive applications in open stack.
• Solid grasp of CS Fundamentals, Microservices, Data Structures, Algorithms, and Problem Solving.
• Experience with CI/CD development environments and tools such as Git, Maven, and Jenkins.
• Proficiency in writing modular, testable code and unit, functional, and integration tests using frameworks like JUnit, Mockito, and Mock MVC.
• Experience with microservices architecture, distributed concepts, common design principles, design patterns, and cloud-native development concepts.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot, concurrency, garbage collection, RESTful services, data caching services, and ORM tools.
• Experience working with Relational Databases and writing complex OLAP, OLTP, and SQL queries.
• Ability to propose multiple development framework, library, and tool alternatives.
• Experience with NoSQL Databases like Cosmos DB.
• Experience with caching technologies like Redis, Memcached, or similar systems.
• Experience with event-based systems like Kafka.
• Experience utilizing monitoring and alert tools such as Prometheus, Splunk, and excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills.
• Exposure to containerization tools like Docker, Helm, and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of public cloud platforms like Azure and GCP is an added advantage.
• Understanding of Mainframe databases is an added advantage.
