Job Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable and resilient systems using Java or Python, contributing to iterative product improvements.
- Execute software solutions, including design, development, and technical troubleshooting.
- Create secure, high-quality production code and maintain algorithms for synchronous system operations.
- Produce and contribute to architecture and design artifacts for applications, ensuring code development aligns with design constraints.
- Analyze and synthesize large, diverse datasets to generate visualizations and reports for continuous improvement of software applications and systems.
- Identify hidden problems and patterns in data to drive improvements in coding hygiene and system architecture.
- Participate in software engineering communities of practice and events to explore emerging technologies.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
- Proficiency in coding with Java or Python.
- Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment using modern programming languages and database querying languages.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Understanding of agile methodologies, including CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.
- Knowledge of software applications and technical processes within specific technical disciplines (e.g., cloud, AI, ML, mobile).
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Familiarity with modern front-end technologies.

Role Level Determination
JPMorgan Chase is hiring for both Software Engineer II and Software Engineer III levels. Placement will be determined based on a skills-based assessment and candidate interviews. The assessment will evaluate your ability to perform basic coding and systems design. For Software Engineer II, the role requires understanding advanced coding features, designing viable systems, and solving functional problems. For Software Engineer III, a higher proficiency is needed, including independent functioning, using and explaining advanced language features, designing across technologies and platforms, solving complex functional and non-functional problems with best practices, and providing guidance to others.
