Your Mission: As a Software Engineer II specializing in Storage, you will play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining the storage platforms that power DigitalOcean’s AI-Native Cloud. The Storage Team oversees object storage, block volumes, backups, and image management—critical components that ensure scalability, durability, and high performance for our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and operate scalable, distributed storage systems, including object storage solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative storage solutions and improve system reliability.
• Work with distributed systems, storage protocols (e.g., S3), and performance optimization to meet enterprise-grade standards.
• Develop and maintain software in modern languages such as Go, while contributing to and leveraging open-source technologies.
• Ensure the availability, performance, and scalability of storage products through proactive monitoring and maintenance.
• Solve complex technical challenges in a rewarding and collaborative environment.

What You’ll Bring:

• Strong knowledge of object storage systems (e.g., MinIO, Ceph, AWS S3, Scality) and experience scaling distributed storage solutions.
• Proficiency in Go and familiarity with concurrency/parallelism models in modern programming languages.
• Experience with gRPC, distributed data stores (e.g., Ceph), and storage hardware (a plus).
• A passion for open-source contributions and collaboration with global developer communities.
• A growth mindset and eagerness to learn new technologies and tools.
