As a developing member of the software engineering team, you will contribute to the design, development, and technical troubleshooting of various components within a technical product, application, or system, gaining valuable experience to grow in your role.
Job Responsibilities
- Contribute to the ongoing development, maintenance, and enhancement of a critical Java application, ensuring its robustness, efficiency, and scalability for global business needs.
- Take ownership and leadership in responding to user tickets, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and collaborating with stakeholders to resolve incidents quickly and maintain high service availability.
- Ensure the service consistently meets firm-wide compliance requirements, including SOC and other regulatory standards, and proactively address audit and security needs.
- Document code changes, operational procedures, and compliance activities thoroughly, and promote adherence to best practices and process improvements.
- Identify and drive initiatives to optimize service performance, automate operational tasks, and enhance monitoring and alerting capabilities.
- Partner with infrastructure, security, and application teams, along with business stakeholders, to ensure seamless integration, alignment, and support for the service.
- Clearly communicate technical concepts, project status, and risks to both technical and non-technical audiences, fostering transparency and alignment across teams.
- Navigate and resolve challenges inherent in supporting large-scale, high-impact systems, balancing competing priorities and making informed decisions under pressure.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 2+ years of applied experience.
- Experience working in a 'You build it, you own it' model.
- Expertise in Java, Spring, and Python.
- Experience with version control systems, such as Git.
- Experience with workflow management systems like JIRA or ServiceNow.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal abilities.
- Curiosity, a willingness to learn, and the ability to adapt and contribute in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Exposure to cloud technologies like AWS, Azure, or GCP, or DevOps practices.
- Knowledge of databases (SQL, NoSQL) and RESTful APIs. Proficiency in Python is a plus.
- Experience with automated testing frameworks.
- Exposure to coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot.
- Experience supporting or leading critical production services in a regulated environment.
