Overview
ResponsibilitiesThe Windows + Devices Fundamentals team improves device reliability, performance, battery life, memory efficiency, and overall health. We build telemetry systems and data pipelines that transform signals into actionable engineering improvements.
We are seeking a self-driven Software Engineer II to design and deliver data-driven systems revealing how Windows devices behave at scale. You will own backend services, investigate product-health signals, and advance Windows Fundamentals across devices and customer segments.
- Define and implement metrics for reliability, performance, power, memory, and storage.
- Design, build, deploy, and operate reliable backend services and data pipelines for telemetry ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and health monitoring.
- Apply engineering practices for service reliability, security, compliance, observability, and incident response.
- Analyze large-scale telemetry to identify trends, anomalies, regressions, and customer impact.
- Investigate metric movements using statistical methods and performance-analysis tools.
- Design automation, AI-assisted analysis, dashboards, alerts, and diagnostic workflows.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to technical designs and code reviews.
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field AND 4+ years of engineering experience with coding (C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Python).
Preferred:
- At least three years of software engineering experience.
- One year of backend service development and data pipeline experience.
- Experience in cloud platforms like Azure, telemetry systems, or large-scale analytics.
- Familiarity with Kusto, PowerShell, SQL/KQL, Windows internals (WinDbg), and AI-assisted workflows.
