Software Engineer II

• Location: Jayanagar, Bengaluru (On-site required)
• Experience Required: 2–4 years preferred (Roughly 3–4 years ideal for production ownership)

About the Role

You will be a backend-heavy engineer capable of cross-stack development. You will own APIs, data models, production reliability, debugging, and system evolution while making scoped Flutter/web changes when necessary to deliver features quickly.

This is not an infrastructure-only role; you must work directly with founders, product teams, designers, and less-experienced engineers. Candidates should be willing to challenge weak ideas, propose better solutions, and help ship them.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate backend services, APIs, data models, and asynchronous workflows.
• Take ownership of reliability: tests, observability, alerts, migrations, safe rollouts, rollback plans, and incident follow-through.
• Debug production behavior using evidence across clients, networks, services, caches, queues, and databases.
• Make pragmatic architecture decisions that support current scale while preparing for 10× growth.
• Partner with product and design on scope, UX implications, success metrics, and rollout strategies.
• Create scoped changes in Flutter or web to complete features or investigate issues.
• Review code and technical proposals; mentor junior engineers in judgment and self-review.
• Leverage AI tools responsibly to accelerate delivery without compromising security or accountability.

What We Are Looking For

• Strong fundamentals in API design, relational data modeling, concurrency, caching/queues, and failure handling.
• Evidence of owning production incidents, difficult bugs, migrations, or reliability improvements.
• Ability to write maintainable code with meaningful tests and useful logs/metrics.
• Product judgment: connecting technical choices to user experience, activation, retention, speed, or cost.
• Sufficient app/web experience to debug and make scoped changes outside the backend stack.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, including direct but constructive technical pushback.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Flutter/Dart or native iOS/Android fundamentals.
• Real-time multiplayer, chat, WebSockets, event-driven systems, offline/reconnect behavior.
• Redis, queues, background workers, database partitioning, high-volume consumer systems.
• Security/privacy experience, including encrypted communication systems.
• Cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, tracing, and production capacity planning.
