Software Engineer II

About This Role

The NextGear Capital business at Cox Automotive is seeking a Software Engineer II to build and evolve systems supporting automotive inventory finance. You will own software features, contribute across the full stack using AI-assisted development practices, and collaborate on design, testing, deployment, observability, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with AI agents to build, test, and deploy software throughout the SDLC.
• Contribute to prompt engineering experimentation and share tool usage insights.
• Engage in design discussions to conceptualize desired outcomes from a software engineering perspective.
• Assist with feature estimation regarding technical input, resources, time, and anticipated outcomes.
• Develop unit and system tests for integral code paths, ensuring secure coding practices.
• Provide technical support including troubleshooting and enhancement of existing features.
• Utilize observability tools (logs, metrics, traces) to monitor system health and validate changes in production.
• Document processes capturing best practices and methodologies.
• Update stakeholders on status, challenges, and concerns.
• Participate in code reviews giving and receiving feedback.
• Take ownership of work driving it to completion while engaging closely with teammates.
