JPMorgan Chase is seeking a Software Engineer I to join the dynamic Model Risk Governance & Review (MRGR) team in Mumbai, Maharashtra. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop cutting-edge tools that enhance efficiency, reduce duplication, and optimize resource management within the firm's model risk framework. You will partner with business stakeholders to deliver comprehensive views and support model reviewers and governance teams by building independent testing and efficiency tools.

As a Software Engineer I, you will be instrumental in delivering high-quality solutions, emphasizing data controls, thorough testing, and an excellent user experience. Your contributions will directly impact the firm's resilience by strengthening risk management and compliance efforts. The MRGR team is responsible for independent model validation and governance, identifying, measuring, and mitigating model risk across the firm. Within the Chief Operating Office (COO) of MRGR, you will contribute to product ownership, process engineering, software development, reporting, and coordination of regulatory and audit deliverables. MRGR Analytics, within COO, focuses on developing technology solutions, primarily using JPMorgan Chase's proprietary Athena framework (Python), Tableau, and QlikView/QlikSense, to empower MRGR staff and clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop tools to automate tasks within the model governance and review lifecycle.
  • Build dashboard reports to effectively manage MRGR's extensive workload.
  • Translate business requirements in model risk management into functional business applications, primarily using Python within an in-house framework.
  • Integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) into existing systems to advance automation, reporting, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify LLM integration opportunities and develop innovative solutions.
  • Construct intelligent solutions to support MRGR staff activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics with significant computer programming exposure.
  • Minimum 2 years of full-stack application development experience.
  • Proficiency in Python and familiarity with Tornado web framework, TypeScript, or React.
  • Solid understanding of software architecture, object-oriented programming, and design patterns.
  • Experience integrating machine learning models, including LLMs, into enterprise applications.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with various functional areas on business requirements.
  • A robust risk and control mindset, with the ability to think critically, assess user needs, and design effective solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with large datasets.
  • Exposure to LLM integration and deployment in real-world applications.
  • Strong UI/UX design skills.
  • Experience in model risk management or the financial services industry.
