Full Job Description
About the Role
We are seeking a Software Engineer I, Data Science (New Grad) to analyze manufacturing telemetry and spacecraft health data. You will build predictive models, develop operational dashboards in Grafana or Plotly Dash, and identify failure patterns to support critical decisions across production and mission operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze manufacturing telemetry, test logs, and on-orbit spacecraft health data to surface anomalies using exploratory data analysis techniques.
- Create real-time operational dashboards displaying production status, health metrics, performance indicators, and anomaly alerts.
- Develop basic predictive models (e.g., logistic regression, random forests) to flag at-risk components during manufacturing and predict degradation during missions.
- Leverage SQL for complex queries involving joins and aggregations across databases, test systems, mission telemetry streams, and health archives.
- Analyze failure modes by clustering similar issues from on-orbit anomalies and quantifying their impact on schedule and success rates.
- Design clear data visualizations using matplotlib, seaborn, or Plotly to communicate insights to engineers, manufacturing leads, operators, and managers.
- Implement statistical process control charts to detect out-of-spec conditions in manufacturing processes before they cascade.
- Monitor telemetry streams for anomalies including battery voltage trends, thermal behavior, attitude control health, and communications quality.
- Document analysis methodology in Jupyter notebooks to ensure reproducibility and knowledge transfer.
