Software Engineer I

Role Overview

Join American Express TRS as a Software Engineer I to develop and maintain high-quality software applications that support core business needs. You will write clean, scalable code using modern technologies like React and Java-based microservices frameworks.

Your Responsibilities:

• Develop, enhance, and maintain responsive web applications for diverse devices and platforms.
• Create efficient, well-documented code adhering to engineering best practices within Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban).
• Conduct automated testing, participate in rigorous code reviews, and debug software components across all deployment stages.
• Leverage AI-powered tools to boost productivity, improve problem-solving capabilities, and streamline development workflows.
• Collaborate with product management, business stakeholders, and engineering teams to align technical solutions with organizational goals.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 1–3 years of professional software development experience.
- Proficiency in front-end technologies: React, Redux, ES6/ES7, Jest, HTML/CSS, JavaScript/DOM manipulation.
- Knowledge of back-end microservices using Java, Spring Boot, Vert.x.
- Familiarity with distributed systems, relational databases, and Agile methodologies.
