About The Role:As a Software Engineer I on the Martech Intelligence Pod, you'll be starting your engineering career working on real customer-facing applications across both frontend and backend. You will learn foundational professional software development in a supportive environment while exploring cutting-edge AI tools and solutions central to modern product building.
Primary Focus:Maintaining and improving customer-facing websites hosted by JLL, learning about infrastructure challenges, and dedicating time to explore LLM APIs, agents, and where AI can solve problems better than traditional approaches. You will work closely with senior engineers who mentor you through the full development lifecycle—from understanding requirements to deploying production-ready code.
Who We're Looking For:We optimize for learning potential and solid fundamentals rather than years of experience.
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering, or equivalent bootcamp/self-taught experience with a portfolio demonstrating competency
- Languages & Frameworks: Proficient in C# or Java basics; some React and TypeScript knowledge (components, JSX) desired
- Web Fundamentals: Understanding of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, DOM manipulation, and browser architecture
- Programming Concepts: Object-oriented programming fundamentals including classes, inheritance, interfaces, and SOLID principles
- Debugging Skills: Ability to debug in multiple environments using logs, IDE tools, and browser developer consoles
- Data & Version Control: Basic SQL skills (SELECT, INSERT) and understanding of Git workflows (branching, merging)
What You'll Do:
- Learning & Foundational Work:Tackle small, well-scoped tasks including bug fixes, feature additions, and documentation improvements. Get hands-on with our tech stack (C#/Java backend, React/TypeScript frontend) and learn how customer-facing applications function.
- Frontend Development:Fix layout issues, implement simple features like forms/UI elements, debug using browser tools, write unit tests, and learn to consume REST APIs effectively.
- Backend Development:Resolve bugs in C# or Java services, implement API endpoints and business logic, improve test coverage with integration tests, and understand system interactions.
- Sit Support:Maintain JLL.com (AEM) and WordPress installations, participate in code reviews, and help reduce technical debt through refactoring.
- AI Exploration & Learning:Dedicate time to experimenting with LLM APIs, prompt engineering, agent systems, and building proof-of-concepts. Document learnings and propose AI-driven solutions for user experience improvements.
