The Core Infrastructure Control Plane team is responsible for developing the fundamental platforms that enable LinkedIn engineers and operators to manage large-scale infrastructure safely, efficiently, and intuitively. We design and build the systems that govern the provisioning, configuration, deployment, and oversight of services across all of LinkedIn's production environments.
As an individual contributor, you will be instrumental in designing and developing robust backend APIs, user-friendly web interfaces, and highly performant, scalable systems. Your technical acumen, product-oriented mindset, and ability to influence teams will be crucial in shaping the next generation of our compute platform.
Responsibilities:
- Scale distributed applications, make architectural decisions using synchronous and asynchronous design patterns, write high-quality code, and deliver efficiently.
- Develop multi-tier, scalable, high-volume, and reliable user-centric applications designed for 24/7 operation.
- Produce high-quality software, ensuring thorough unit testing, code reviews, and regular integration.
- Provide technical leadership, championing and implementing best engineering practices to initiate, plan, and execute critical, large-scale, cross-functional programs.
- Identify, promote, and successfully advocate for opportunities to enhance engineering productivity.
- Mentor junior engineers and interns within the team.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related technical field requiring coding proficiency.
- Practical experience in developing backend services using Java, Go, or Python, coupled with web development experience using object-oriented JavaScript, semantic HTML, and CSS.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two or more years of relevant professional experience.
- Bachelor of Engineering or Master of Science in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in designing end-to-end solutions.
- Full-stack software engineering expertise, including developing APIs with gRPC/GraphQL, architecting and building single-page applications, and writing clean JavaScript within frameworks such as React or Angular.
- Familiarity with and enthusiasm for current front-end architecture trends and best practices, including performance optimization, accessibility, security, and usability.
- Experience in building backend services with Java.
- Successfully delivered multiple large-scale projects with inter-team dependencies.
