Role Overview
We are seeking a Software Engineer for our Local Mode team to build Git-native Postman. You will create seamless workflows that live directly in developers' repositories and filesystems.
Your Mission:
Build secure, performant, and scalable developer experiences using JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Node.js, Electron, APIs, and databases. Your work will focus on the intersection of product engineering, Git integration, local filesystems, desktop infrastructure, command-line tooling, synchronization, cloud services, and data systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own secure, performant Git-native developer workflows across visual and CLI experiences.
- Build features using modern web technologies (React, Node.js) and build tools like Electron.
- Design robust synchronization logic handling conflicts, concurrency, retries, partial failures, and data integrity.
- Solve cross-platform challenges on macOS, Windows, Linux, and WSL involving Git, permissions, processes, and file watching.
- Optimize performance for large repositories, deep file trees, startup times, and CLI execution.
- Ensure reliability through automated testing, observability, diagnostics, secure defaults, and clear recovery paths.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and design to prototype workflows and drive them from concept to production.
Requirements:
- 2–4 years of software engineering experience shipping production features.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript with hands-on React and Node.js experience.
- Experience designing APIs, databases (relational or NoSQL), data modeling, and secure data handling.
- Practical understanding of Git, filesystems, CLI tools, networking, OS internals, and cross-platform development.
- Ability to design asynchronous systems managing concurrency, consistency, error handling, retries, cancellation, and recovery.
- Commitment to writing testable, maintainable, secure, and performant code with strong computer science fundamentals.
