Software Engineer

PayPal is seeking a Software Engineer to join our team in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. In this role, you will implement tasks within the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) under the guidance of experienced staff, adhering to well-established internal conventions and standard procedures. You will apply internal standards and processes to make technical decisions and collaborate with peers, your manager, and the project lead to understand tasks and review solutions. Contribution to code and design reviews is also expected.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent. A strong foundation in programming concepts and data structures is essential. Proficiency in Java is required, along with experience in back-end development using Java EE technologies such as Java, application servers, servlet containers, JMS, JPA, Spring MVC, and Hibernate. You should possess a strong understanding of web services and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) standards, including REST, OAuth, and JSON, with practical experience in Java environments. Experience with Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) tools like Hibernate within Java-based solutions is necessary. Knowledge of the payment processing industry and relevant regulations is a plus.
