Your Role: Software Application Engineer

As a Software Application Engineer based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining, upgrading, and supporting the critical technical systems that drive Warner Music Group's global operations. This hybrid role blends Software Engineering with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and operational support, demanding adaptability, technical versatility, and a strong customer-centric approach. You will excel if you are passionate about ensuring the health, scalability, and resilience of complex production systems. Responsibilities

Software Engineering & Upgrades

• Develop clean, maintainable code using Java or Python for backend development, and Angular or React for frontend development.
• Perform upgrades to application frameworks (e.g., Java, Angular) to ensure security patches, support, and performance enhancements are implemented.
• Debug and resolve system errors identified through automated testing or manual diagnostics.

Reliability & Monitoring

• Monitor production systems and enhance observability to proactively detect and resolve issues.
• Lead Root Cause Analyses (RCA) for system outages and implement effective corrective actions.
• Conduct performance and scalability testing, identify performance bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies.

Support & Operations

• Collaborate with business and operations users to troubleshoot, document, and resolve issues.
• Execute manual workflows (e.g., data queries, AWS resource modifications, job restarts) and automate them to improve efficiency.
• Participate in the on-call rotation, providing prompt responses to high-priority production incidents.

Automation & Continuous Improvement

• Enhance CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC).
• Contribute to and maintain team knowledge bases, runbooks, and technical documentation.
• Drive continuous improvement through process automation and the enhancement of existing tooling.

About You

• Possess at least 4 years of experience in software development, preferably with Java or Python for backend, or Angular/React for frontend.
• Proficient with relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL) and skilled in writing SQL queries.
• An effective communicator capable of bridging technical and non-technical discussions.
• Comfortable collaborating within distributed teams across multiple time zones.

We’d Love It If You Also Had

• Experience working with enterprise systems and modernizing them.
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for managing cloud resources, particularly within AWS.
• The ability to diagnose and resolve issues across desktop, network, and web layers.
• Experience with on-call duties, incident management, and meeting Service Level Agreement (SLA) commitments.
