Meet Our Team: The Global Merchant Lending (GML) team, part of PayPal's SMB & Financial Services group, is dedicated to providing innovative lending products such as PayPal Working Capital and PayPal Business Loans to SMBs worldwide. Our mission is to offer faster, easier access to capital than traditional loans, significantly impacting our customers' businesses.
About the Role: As a Software Engineer, you will focus on developing efficient, elegant, and reusable code, avoiding unnecessary complexity and abstraction. You will mentor other engineers, offering technical and business guidance, and are expected to demonstrate ownership and deliver high-quality solutions on schedule. Responsibilities include creating and reviewing detailed design documents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement tasks within the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) under the guidance of experienced staff.
- Adhere to established internal conventions and standard procedures.
- Apply understanding of internal standards and processes to make sound technical decisions.
- Collaborate with peers, managers, and project leads to understand tasks and review solutions.
- Contribute to code and design reviews.
Experience and Qualifications:
- 1+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expertise in Java, Spring Boot, REST API, and messaging architectures like ActiveMQ/Kafka.
- Familiarity with testing frameworks and libraries such as JUnit and Mockito is essential.
- Proficiency in software engineering tools (e.g., Java build tools) and best practices (e.g., unit testing, test automation, continuous integration).
- Experience with build and deployment tools to automate the development lifecycle.
- Experience in online payments or loan management systems and related domains is a plus.
