Software Engineer - Android Development

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Software Engineer with a specialization in Android mobile development to join our dynamic team in Pune. This role demands expertise in Android development, including the use of APIs for medical devices. The ideal candidate will possess a strong aptitude for rapidly acquiring new knowledge, efficiently utilizing existing procedures, and collaborating with team members. You will leverage advanced knowledge in communication protocols and Android front-end libraries, contributing to architectural design decisions with a keen focus on cybersecurity. The ability to independently resolve complex problems within your area of expertise and proactively seek solutions for challenges outside your immediate scope is essential.

What you will be doing:

• Develop rapid proof-of-concept prototypes and feasibility demonstrators for surgical navigation applications on Android mobile devices.
• Author production-level mobile code, adhering to established design patterns and creating corresponding documentation.
• Actively participate in software architectural design definition, providing specific expertise for design decisions, requirements development, and software testing strategies.
• Take full accountability for the software produced in each development increment, from initial requirements and acceptance criteria definition to comprehensive documentation and testing.
• Construct software-focused automation frameworks for mobile codebases.
• Provide support for debugging and conducting root cause analysis of software issues.
• Champion a robust quality mindset and advocate for quality-first practices across all development teams.
• Execute design control functions to ensure strict compliance with IEC 62304 standards.

What you will need to be successful:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics / Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent hands-on mobile development experience.
• A minimum of 2 years of professional Android development experience using Kotlin, including proficiency with relevant libraries and services.
• Demonstrated ability to test logic, state machines, and error handling in Kotlin.
• Experience in writing unit and component-level tests for mobile applications.
• Familiarity with modern mobile architectural patterns designed for scalable and maintainable applications.
• Knowledge of Python or Shell scripting for automation is considered a plus.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and associated tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

• Hands-on experience in one or more of the following domains is highly encouraged:
  • Medical Devices / Healthcare Software (highly preferred)
  • Automotive / ADAS / AUTOSAR-based systems
  • Industrial Automation / Robotics
