About the Role

Gartner is seeking a skilled and motivated Application Developer to contribute to the development and maintenance of applications designed for a variety of iOS and Android devices, including mobile phones and tablets. This position is within Gartner's Digital Product Technology team, which is responsible for all client-facing applications across web and mobile platforms, serving as the primary avenue for delivering essential insights to our clients on their mission-critical priorities. This role requires a strong commitment to collaborative problem-solving, sophisticated application design, and the creation of innovative solutions.

What You Will Do

• Gain a comprehensive understanding of Gartner's domain and business model. Collaborate with business stakeholders to achieve objectives and goals by contributing to the development of a world-class client experience.
• Design and develop applications specifically for the Android platform.
• Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
• Work collaboratively within the team to successfully launch new features.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and fix software bugs.
• Contribute to maintaining high code quality and implementing automation.
• Proactively operate within a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
• Take ownership of the successful delivery of high-quality and innovative mobile features.

What You Will Need

We are looking for a strong IT professional with 2-4 years of experience in Android application development, proficient in either Java or Kotlin. The ideal candidate possesses excellent qualitative and quantitative problem-solving skills, coupled with a high degree of ownership and accountability.

Must-Have Skills and Experience

• A total of 2-4 years of experience in Android application development using Java or Kotlin.
• Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Proven experience integrating with REST/SOAP-based web services.
• Hands-on experience with libraries and tools such as Retrofit, Push Notifications, Gradle, and Dependency Injection frameworks (Dagger/Hilt).
• Exposure to modern Android application architectures and libraries.
• Extensive knowledge of the Android architecture and framework, with a solid understanding of Android Components (Activity, Fragments, Broadcast Receivers, Content Providers, Services, etc.).
• Proficiency with Jetpack Compose.
• Practical experience with local data storage solutions including SQLite, Room, and SharedPreferences, along with secure data handling practices.
• A strong grasp and implementation experience in asynchronous programming and multithreading, including Kotlin Coroutines and Flow.
• Well-versed in application debugging techniques and unit testing methodologies.
• Proficiency in using code versioning tools such as Git/GitHub/Bitbucket.
• Familiarity with the Android build system.
• Excellent understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts and knowledge of Design Patterns.
• Good knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile Methodologies.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse individuals and functions in various formats (verbal, written, etc.).

Good-to-Have Skills and Experience

• Deep understanding of Material Design principles.
• Ability to interpret functional requirements and translate them into application designs.
• Strong object-oriented design skills, including design patterns, data structures, and test-driven development (TDD).
• Awareness of AI code-assist tools and the ability to leverage them for efficient and high-quality Android development.
• Knowledge of Firebase.

Who You Are

• A Graduate/Postgraduate in BE/B.Tech, ME/M.Tech, or MCA is preferred.
• Excellent communication and prioritization skills.
• Ability to work proactively, either independently or as part of a team, in a fast-paced AGILE-SCRUM environment.
• Demonstrates ownership by taking responsibility for the successful delivery of solutions.
• Possesses a strong desire to continuously improve skills in software development, frameworks, and technologies.
