Software Development Intern

Critical Start Technologies Private Ltd., operating under the Critical Start umbrella, is seeking a motivated Software Engineering Intern for its India operations in Pune. This role offers hands-on experience in cloud-based systems and modern software development practices, working closely with mentors on real-world projects. Ideal candidates are problem-solvers who write efficient code, understand large-scale system design, and are eager to learn new technologies in a fast-paced engineering environment. A strong interest in distributed systems, REST APIs, microservices, and database design is essential. This internship focuses on strengthening coding, debugging, and problem-solving skills for scalable, reliable, and secure enterprise cybersecurity and automation applications. The internship is in-person at the Pune office from June 01, 2026, to November 30, 2026, with a 20-30 hour per week commitment and a maximum stipend of ₹30,000/month, with no expense reimbursement.

Key responsibilities include assisting in the design, development, and testing of UIs, RESTful APIs, and microservices; collaborating with senior engineers on new features; implementing microservices using Python frameworks (Django/FastAPI); writing unit tests and participating in code reviews; working with SQL/NoSQL databases; utilizing logging and monitoring tools for performance analysis; contributing to documentation and developer tooling; collaborating with DevOps on CI/CD and containerization; and participating in agile development practices like daily standups and sprint planning. Interns will also assist in debugging and resolving issues.

Required qualifications include a strong understanding of at least one programming language (preferably Python), familiarity with UI, REST APIs, data structures, algorithms, OOP principles, and web frameworks (FastAPI, Django, Flask). Curiosity for databases, cloud computing, and microservices, along with strong analytical, problem-solving, debugging, and collaboration skills, are essential. Desired qualifications include coursework/projects in software development, API design, or cloud platforms; familiarity with Git; exposure to Docker or CI/CD; knowledge of testing frameworks; interest in observability tools; and exposure to or interest in cybersecurity. Experience with AI-assisted coding tools is a plus.

Interns will gain hands-on experience with production systems, mentorship from experienced engineers, exposure to modern engineering practices, and learning of the full software delivery lifecycle.
