Amazon's Financial Technology team is searching for enthusiastic, results-oriented, and innovative software developers adept at working with massively scalable and distributed systems. As a team member, your mission will involve designing, developing, documenting, and supporting massively scalable, distributed real-time systems. You will build and deliver software systems that cater to complex and rapidly evolving business requirements, utilizing technologies such as C++, Python, Java, object-oriented design patterns, and distributed databases.

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned software engineer to take a pivotal role in the architecture, design, implementation, and deployment of large-scale, critical, and complex financial applications. You will challenge your design and architecture skills by owning all aspects of end-to-end solutions through full-stack software development. Employing agile methodologies, you will iteratively build and deliver high-quality results in a dynamic environment. With excellent verbal and written communication skills, self-motivation, and a collaborative spirit, you will collaborate across Amazon engineering and business teams globally to plan, design, execute, and implement this new platform across various geographies. Throughout the project lifecycle, you will review requirements, design foundational services for the new technology platform, build new interfaces, integrate with existing architectures, develop and test code, and ensure seamless implementations for Global Tax customers. In this hands-on role, you will manage daily activities and participate in designs, design reviews, and code reviews with the engineering team. You will build backend services and customer-facing APIs using AWS technologies like EC2, RDS/DynamoDB/RedShift, SWF, S3, and QuickSight. You will also design and code technical solutions using tools such as Angular JS, React, Node.js, JQuery, and SQL Server to provide value to tax customers. Additionally, you will contribute to a suite of tools hosted on AWS infrastructure, engaging with various tools across the software development lifecycle.

A day in the life involves close collaboration with Tax teams to gain a deep understanding of their business challenges, adapting quickly to changing needs, and aligning efforts with customer priorities. You should be able to act with agility, develop solutions rapidly, create proofs of concept (POCs), and offer appropriate recommendations to customers. A significant part of your responsibilities will include working closely with peer engineers, actively contributing to solution designs, conducting detailed deep dives, and participating in quality code reviews. You will share responsibility for owning and resolving operational tickets with your peers, ensuring efficient and effective issue resolution. This position requires a proactive approach, strong problem-solving abilities, and a dedication to delivering high-quality solutions tailored to the specific needs of Tax teams and their customers.

About the team: The FinTech RoW Tax Compliance team manages the Tax Data Warehouse platform, a large-scale data and reporting solution designed for indirect tax compliance across Amazon and other organizations. This platform helps businesses comply with mandatory tax regulations, improve data accuracy, and ensure audit readiness by providing consistent and reliable data to tax teams in MX regions. As Amazon expands globally, the RoW Compliance team is vital in fulfilling mandatory tax reporting obligations and supporting these expansions. Their charter also includes developing solutions for evolving tax legislation, audit requests, and global technology requirements like Recon. The team is also focused on building next-generation strategic platforms, such as the Unified Tax Ledger (UTL).

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years of professional software development experience (excluding internships)
• 2+ years of experience in designing or architecting new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling
• 3+ years of experience within the Video Games Industry (supporting title development, release, or live operations)
• Proficiency in at least one software programming language

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years of experience across the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
