SDE Job Description

We are looking for a driven Software Development Engineer (SDE) to join our engineering team at Illumine. As we enter the next phase of growth as a profitable, Series A startup with offices in Bengaluru and globally, you will help build scalable, high-impact products that serve educators and parents worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Build, test, and deploy scalable web applications using modern frontend and backend systems.
• Develop features using React.js for the UI and Node.js for backend services.
• Work with real-time data systems like Firebase Realtime Database to ensure seamless user experiences.
• Design and integrate REST APIs following modern web architecture practices.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product and design teams to define and deliver impactful features.
• Maintain clean, efficient code through rigorous testing and participation in code reviews.

Required Skills

To succeed in this role, you must have 4+ years of hands-on experience as an SDE with strong proficiency in JavaScript, React.js, and Node.js. Experience with Firebase or similar real-time systems is essential. You should be familiar with REST APIs, basic to intermediate database concepts (SQL/NoSQL), asynchronous programming, event-driven systems, and version control like Git.

Good to Have

• Familiarity with AI tools such as Claude or GitHub Copilot to enhance productivity.
• Experience with cloud platforms including AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Understanding of performance optimization for scalable systems.
