The Role
We are seeking a Software Development Engineer II to join our team and contribute to building impactful features across both UI and backend systems. In this role, you will own the end-to-end development of features, collaborate closely with Product and Design teams, and deliver scalable solutions that power our device management platform. You'll have the opportunity to experiment with AI tools, such as Claude and ChatGPT, to accelerate development and enhance productivity.

What You'll Do

• Develop and maintain high-performance backend services, APIs, and distributed systems capable of handling millions of device interactions daily.
• Work across the full stack, building robust backend services and intuitive web applications and dashboards utilized by our customers.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Customer-facing teams to deliver customer-centric solutions.
• Contribute to architectural decisions, design scalable solutions, and help shape our technical roadmap.
• Conduct thorough code reviews, establish best practices, and mentor junior engineers.
• Experiment with AI-assisted development tools to improve overall productivity.

Experience Level

• 2+ years of software development experience.
• Experience building and maintaining production systems.
• Previous experience in a senior individual contributor role.

Required Skills

• Strong backend development experience, including building RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Go, Python, Java, or C/C++.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and system design principles.
• Experience working with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred) and strong SQL skills.
• Hands-on experience with web frameworks and API development.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience with version control systems (Git) and collaborative development workflows.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization skills.
• Ability to contribute across the full stack, including frontend development when required.
• Proficiency in using AI-assisted development tools and applying best practices to improve productivity.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with build systems (CMake, Makefile, cross-compilation).
• Familiarity with message brokers (MQTT, Kafka) and networking protocols.
• Cloud platforms experience (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).

Bonus Skills

• Experience with VNC, remote desktop protocols (RFB, RDP, WebRTC).
• Knowledge of MDM or device management systems.
• Understanding of security practices in embedded/systems programming.
• Open-source contributions to Linux or embedded projects.
