Key Responsibilities:

• AI-Native Velocity: Lead our 70% AI-assisted PR mandate by leveraging tools like Cursor, Copilot, and Claude to accelerate Node.js (NestJS) and Golang microservice delivery while focusing human intelligence on architecture.
• Unbreakable Backend Architecture: Architect high-throughput event-driven microservices using Kafka and Redis with built-in resilience patterns such as circuit breakers and health checks to handle massive traffic spikes seamlessly.
• Data and Performance Ownership: Own the unit economics of our data layer, optimizing MySQL and MongoDB queries for sub-second p99 latencies on GCP while maintaining predictable infrastructure costs.
• End-to-End Golden Path Ownership: Drive features from design to Kubernetes deployment with strong engineering practices that ensure low change failure rates and minimal Sev-1 incidents.
• API Design Excellence: Build clean, backward-compatible APIs focused on maintainability, scalability, and clear service contracts for modular microservices.
• Cloud-Native Operations: Operate services on Kubernetes with robust monitoring; proactively debug production issues using Prometheus and Grafana to ensure high availability.
• Scalability Optimization: Continuously optimize system throughput, fault tolerance, and cloud utilization while controlling costs during growth phases.
• Tech Leadership: Lead design decisions, write clear RFCs, mentor engineers, and collaborate across Product, Data, DevOps, and Security teams.

Candidate Profile:

• The Systems Thinker: Prefer building self-healing mechanisms over manual fixes. Aim for a change failure rate < 1.5% and fewer than 2 Sev-1 incidents per quarter.
• The AI-Fluent Architect: Use AI tools to drive cycle times under 4 hours, enabling high-frequency daily deployments with confidence in production readiness.
• The Data-Informed Engineer: Optimize infrastructure so cost-per-order remains predictable as we scale. Understand latency and cloud spend are engineering disciplines.
• The Proactive Collaborator: Thrive cross-functionally to ensure 100% repository gating and zero critical vulnerabilities in production environments.
