Software Development Engineer

About the Role: Amazon is seeking a Software Development Engineer to build and operate large-scale financial transaction and payment systems for its vendors worldwide. This role owns payment-system features end-to-end, collaborating with finance, tax, accounts payable, and product stakeholders while leveraging agentic AI across the entire software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own Features End-to-End: Design solutions, make critical tradeoffs, build independently, and collaborate with senior engineers on complex architectural decisions. Push back on requirements to ensure the right business outcomes are delivered.
• Innovative Development: Ship incrementally using staged rollouts for safety. Reduce operational load by automating manual interventions through code fixes or self-healing mechanisms rather than runbooks.
• Mentorship & Leadership: Leave systems better documented and more maintainable than found. Raise the bar around you via rigorous code reviews, mentoring junior engineers, and onboarding new teammates effectively.
