Software Development Engineer

Overview
As a Build and DevOps Engineer at ESRI, you will help design, automate, and maintain the systems that build, test, package, deploy, and operate ArcGIS Enterprise software. You will collaborate closely with developers to improve build reliability, release velocity, system stability, and operational excellence across global environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain reliable build, packaging, and release automation for ArcGIS Enterprise.
• Automate software delivery, infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and environment lifecycle operations using Python, PowerShell, or Shell.
• Manage build artifacts, dependencies, versioning, and release metadata across development and delivery pipelines (Jenkins/GitHub Actions).
• Dockerize applications and orchestrate environments with Kubernetes to ensure scalability and security.
• Collaborate with QA teams to improve application testability and release readiness.
• Monitor pipeline health using observability tools like Prometheus or Grafana, ensuring high availability of build systems.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues involving CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration, and distributed networks.

Requirements

• 2+ years in DevOps, Build Engineering, Release Management, or System Administration (typically 4-6 years total experience).
• Proven experience with Jenkins and/or GitHub Actions for CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong proficiency in Python, PowerShell, Bash/Shell scripting.
• Hands-on expertise with Docker containers and Kubernetes clusters.
• Solid understanding of REST APIs, networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS), and distributed systems architecture.
