Software Development Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking a high-performing Backend Engineer (Java / Spring Boot) with over 4 years of experience. You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining mission-critical backend microservices within our high-volume payment, lending, and API integration systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Service Engineering:
• Design, develop, and maintain clean, scalable, and fault-tolerant microservices and RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
• High-Throughput Systems:
• Build scalable architectures capable of handling high traffic volume, low latency, and concurrent financial transactions.
• End-to-End Ownership:
• Own services across the entire lifecycle from system design and DB schema planning to deployment, monitoring, and production bug fixing.
• System Performance:
• Optimize database queries, JVM memory management, garbage collection, and caching mechanisms to maximize throughput.
• Collaboration:
• Partner with cross-functional product, frontend, and QA teams to translate complex financial business logic into reliable technical solutions.
• Code Quality and Security:
• Maintain high code quality through rigorous code reviews, automated unit testing, and adherence to security standards (JWT, OAuth2).

Requirements

• Core Tech Stack:
• Demonstrable proficiency in Core Java (Java 8/11/17) and hands-on experience with Spring Boot/Spring Framework.
• Experience Level:
• 4+ years of backend engineering experience building web applications and microservices.
• APIs and Architecture:
• Deep expertise in RESTful API design, microservices communication patterns, system architecture, and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles.
• Databases:
• Hands-on experience with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL and NoSQL/In-Memory stores like Redis or MongoDB.
• Concurrency and JVM:
• A strong grasp of Java multithreading, concurrency concepts, and JVM internals.
• Tooling:
• Proficiency with Git version control, Maven/Gradle build tools, and post-deployment monitoring solutions.

Good to Have / Bonus Points

• Experience in the fintech sector, specifically within payments or lending domains, or on high-scale B2B SaaS platforms.
• Hands-on experience with asynchronous streaming/messaging tools like Apache Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS: EC2, S3, RDS) and containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or GitHub Actions, along with deployment strategies that ensure zero-downtime (Blue-Green, Canary).
• Knowledge of observability tools including Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or Datadog.
