Software Development Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking a Backend Engineer to join our founding team at Aspora. You will be an early shaper of the design and architecture of our core fintech product, working closely with founders to deliver massive value to users.

In this role, you will build from scratch in an environment that values speed, uncertainty, and versatility ('wearing different hats'). We pride ourselves on rolling up our sleeves to ship code frequently while maintaining strict security and uptime requirements for millions of transactions.

Key Responsibilities

• System Design: Design and develop scalable backend systems that power Aspora's fintech products, ensuring they are modular, extensible, and capable of handling high-scale traffic.
• Coding Excellence: Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code using Java, Spring Boot, Python, or Go. Focus on performance optimization and security best practices.
• Scale & Reliability: Build fault-tolerant systems that handle millions of transactions daily. Implement robust API architectures and distributed system patterns for high availability.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product, frontend, and infrastructure teams to deliver seamless user experiences.
• Maintenance & Optimization: Monitor performance metrics, troubleshoot issues proactively, and optimize backend processes continuously.
• Biz-Aligned Execution: Align engineering efforts with business priorities to enable rapid iteration and execution of critical features.

Requirements

• Experience: 3-7 years in backend development, preferably within a product-based startup or fintech environment.
• Tech Stack: Proficiency in building RESTful APIs and microservices architectures. You should be comfortable with Java, Spring Boot, Python, or Go (we are language-agnostic).
• Mindset: Ability to prioritize product needs while making sound technical decisions; thrives in early-stage environments where you build things from scratch.
