Software Development Engineer

Role Overview:

We are seeking a Software Development Engineer to join the AWS Security Communications team. In this role, you will build, operate, and improve software platforms supporting security messaging, stakeholder notifications, and communications workflows across Amazon Web Services.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and deliver end-to-end software features for major portions of the SecComms platform (scoping to maintenance).
• Translate customer needs into well-designed, maintainable solutions with a focus on operational excellence.
• Solve difficult problems involving visible risks by identifying simple, extensible designs.
• Balance constraints across new feature development, technical debt, and reliability; prioritize sustainable long-term solutions over short-term workarounds.
• Produce high-quality, documented code adhering to the Amazon Code Bar for peer maintenance.
• Owning production services with alarms, telemetry, runbooks, and robust on-call response strategies.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with security engineers, program managers, communications leads, and partner teams.
• Actively mentor teammates, provide constructive code reviews, train new members, and maintain current technical documentation.
