About The Role

Northland Telephone is seeking a Software Developer to design, build, test, and maintain software solutions based on defined business and user requirements. Reporting to the Software Engineering Manager in Holland Patent, New York (hybrid), you will work with management, internal departments, and customers to understand needs and translate them into practical development work.

Responsibilities

• Design and build software solutions that meet defined requirements, and maintain or improve existing applications across multiple areas of functionality.
• Write efficient, maintainable code; manage APIs and integrations; correct defects; and validate fixes.
• Gather requirements in collaboration with stakeholders, translate user needs into technical specifications, and align development tasks with team priorities.
• Test software for performance and functionality, troubleshoot and debug issues across systems, identify root causes, and verify solutions before release.
• Deploy applications and updates, participate in code reviews, refactor code to improve maintainability, and create and update technical documentation as systems change.
• Assess user feedback and recurring issues to recommend improvements.
• Contribute to operational targets by supporting efforts to reduce lead-to-billed days to below 236, achieve a mean time to resolution under 48 hours, and complete MACD work in under 48 hours. Help deliver automation and AI initiatives that reduce manual effort and improve operational performance.

Qualifications

Applicants should have an associate degree in computer science or relevant work experience, along with a strong understanding of HTML, CSS, database design principles, and Transact-SQL. Candidates should be able to build and maintain trust-based working relationships, communicate effectively through a variety of methods and technologies, and adapt to changing priorities, processes, technologies, and business needs.

A valid driver's license or access to transportation is required.

Preferred Skills

Bachelor's degree in computer science. Experience with Visual Studio, ASP.NET MVC, .NET Core, C#, JavaScript (ES6), source control systems such as GitHub, and object-relational mapping frameworks such as Entity Framework is also preferred. A willingness to learn PowerBuilder is important.
