Software Developer

As a Software Developer at Emerson, you will play a key role in translating digital transformation goals into scalable agent development activities, focusing on AI-enabled applications and agent-based solutions. You will implement AI agents within the Ovation Intelligence ecosystem, collaborating with a team of AI engineers, software developers, and domain SMEs.

Your responsibilities include actively participating in the design and implementation of the Agent Builder platform to create custom user agents for diagnostics, automation, engineering workflows, and operational support. You will ensure agent quality to enhance operator awareness, reduce troubleshooting time, improve engineering productivity, and enable predictive maintenance workflows. Close collaboration with Engineering, Architecture, UX, QA, and domain SMEs will be crucial for defining agent use cases and deployment strategies. You will also work with Cybersecurity teams to enforce rigorous security standards and align with infrastructure and platform teams on compute, GPU usage, and performance requirements.

We are seeking individuals with a strong bottom-line orientation, quick learning abilities, a knack for asking the right questions, and the capacity to introduce novel perspectives to problem-solving. You should be adept at orchestrating multiple activities simultaneously to achieve goals.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, AI/ML, or related fields.
• 1–5 years of hands-on experience in AI/ML model development, deployment, and optimization, with a proven record of driving innovation and efficiency.
• Experience with large language models, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), agent architectures, and industrial AI applications.
• Understanding of distributed systems, cloud/on-prem architectures, APIs, and enterprise software development practices.
• Familiarity with software development processes, including requirements definition, testing, validation, and deployment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong expertise in machine learning, deep learning, and generative AI, including LLMs and Agentic AI.
• Proficiency in C#, Python, TensorFlow/PyTorch.
• Hands-on experience deploying AI in real-world, industrial environments.
• Prior experience with Emerson Ovation, industrial control systems (DCS/SCADA), or power plant operations.
• Knowledge of operational technology (OT) networks, cybersecurity principles, and safety-critical system constraints.
• Experience deploying AI solutions in regulated or mission-critical environments.
• Familiarity with ML Ops, prompt engineering, and AI reliability frameworks.
